Maths
- At Potters Gate and St Andrews, we believe that every child is a mathematician. We want our children to have the necessary mathematical skills that they can effectively use in their day to day lives. ?
- We give our children a well-rounded mathematical curriculum based on the 5 elements of mastery – coherence, fluency, problem solving and reasoning, mathematical language and variation.?
- We foster our school values of resilience, fellowship, justice and trust through nurturing a creative and explorative teaching approach. The context of lessons changes by using everyday scenarios, children actively problem solveand reason using equipment and apply their prior learning before moving onto their independent tasks. Mathematical language is modelled for the children to apply to their own discussions and challenges. ?
- We are prioritisingfluency in number bonds and times tables as this will close gaps in learning from the previous 18 months of instability and equip the children with the fundamental skills required for their learning.?
